Ok so yeah XDD I haven't updated my journal in...I think over a month now, so it's about time I do so!
I've started my new school, which is really exciting but exhausting at the same time. We can't use the elevator at the school so every morning at 7:30am I'm running my happy arse up about 6 flights of steps, and after about 6 months of sitting on my rear doodling it's really taking a toll on my knees. I'm slowly getting use to it though and I'm sure eventually I won't think it's so bad, but for now I'll dread it every morning-just like I dread going to fundamentals X.X
Ok so...I like my classes, two out of the three anyway. It's not like fundamentals is /bad/, the teacher is very nice and I have the same students in my other classes so they're all nice too, I just resent the fact that I'm paying a rediculous amount of money for tuition and I'm stuck in a class that has me doing projects I did freshmen year in highschool. The first project we did was a flash back to my typography class I took in my other school (which was fascinating and I loved), I didn't mind that one so much because it was just tracing a text onto bristol board in an interesting composition-I got an A and she's keeping it to photograph, which is cool.
Right now though-we were required to spend over 100 dollars to get this special kind of paint called 'gouche'(pronounced like 'goo-wash'

, and not just any gouche, designer stuff that's about 8 bucks a tube. Now, I'll give it that this stuff is fairly neat, it spreads pretty far with just a little bit of water and makes really nice colors, but right now all we're doing with this stuff is doing color mixing projects, like matching the colors on the color wheels and now making tints and tones of 4 different colors-and THEN she has planned for us to do a complimentary color exercise as well. Come on! I learned the complimentary colors in like...Junior high! And I'm going through gouche like you wouldn't believe! This stuff isn't cheap and she's having us do nothing more then waste it on making /color swatches/ for over two weeks! If she wanted to do color excersizes to teach us colors and such, use a cheaper medium! Color pencils come to mind.
What ever-so I dread that class, I just now /expect/ myself to be underwhelmed. My other classes though are great. I have Life drawing II and Anatomy. They jumped me into life drawing II since I took a life drawing class at my other school and for the first week I was really nervous that I was going to be really behind all the other students, but I seem to have caught up well enough. I look forward to that class and I find myself getting up in the morning simply because I want to get to Life Drawing and continue on that weeks drawing. It's only been two weeks and I already think I've gotten a little better, despite the fact that we just got a model that moved alot (if you've been in life drawing you can sympathiz with how annoying that is XD).
Then there's anatomy which is /fascinating/, and the teacher does a very good job with the lectures. We only have that class 2 days a week which is a slight bummer, but I do look forward to it, even if other students don't. ^^0 I find myself already geeking out a little and mentally pointing out landmark bones I see on random people I see, and I tend to look for bald people more now too >.> just to see if I can see some of those bones in the head.
Anyway! Yes, a mix of fascination and being completely underwhelmed plagues my first few weeks at my new school, and in some ways it's awesome. I'm just hoping fundamentals picks up soon or I may start throwing gouche at the walls >.>
Lots of lovies!
